Dr. James Jacob

Dr. James Jacob, is presently the Managing Director of the Plantation Corporation of Kerala, under Kerala government which is the largest public sector plantation company in Kerala State. He was the Director of Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) under the Rubber Board, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India (December 2006 to June 2021). He is a double doctorate, one in Plant Physiology (India) and the other in Biochemistry (London), Commonwealth Fellow in the UK, Post-doctoral Fellow in the US, Fellow of the International Rubber Research and Development Board, University gold medalist, winner of the Junior and Senior Research Fellowships of the ICAR and the Distinguished Scientist Award of the Indian Society of Plantations Crops.

An alumnus of the prestigious Imperial College, London and the world famous Rothamsted International, UK, the oldest Agricultural Research Institute in the world, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru and Kerala Agricultural University, Trissur, Dr. Jacob did his post-doctoral research on impact of global warming and climate change on native forest ecosystems at the world renowned Smithsonian Environmental Research Centre in the US before returning to India in 1995 to take up a research career at RRII.Gave scientific seminars, lectures etc. in the countries such as USA, Canada, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, UK. France, Spain, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Germany and Switzerland.
